The centre was designed by architect Ralph Ball RIBA, to  harmonize with its surroundings (including the church building), and to provide the maximum range of facilities within the area available.

The main section is a two-storey building with several meeting rooms, and access both from the High Street and the service road behind it.

The large open entrance area serves as an informal meeting place with cafe-style seating and an adjacent kitchen and reception office. Attached to the main building is a single-storey hall equipped for sports, entertainment and other uses.
