Why a community centre ?

While considering how the Methodist Church could best serve the people of Reigate from its High Street location, our research identified a growing need for a safe, central and well equipped venue for the use of community-minded organisations and small businesses in and around Reigate. Despite being a busy town in a relatively well-off area, there was no existing central building to serve this purpose.

As a result, our out-dated Rank Memorial Hall was in considerable demand, even in a delapidated state. We realized there was an opportunity to make a very significant contribution to the town by replacing it with a completely new structure. Although the 1950s building could in principle have been demolished and just rebuilt as a new hall, it was obvious that a more flexible building was required, with rooms of different sizes and a cafe area etc.
